JWU Alum & Cybersecurity Mom Featured in University Magazine for Online Safety Work

Spring Lake, NC – November 7, 2025 — Johnson & Wales University alumna Aqueelah Emanuel ’02 has been featured in the latest issue of the JWU University Magazine in a spotlight article titled “How do I keep my kid safe online?”

As a Cybersecurity Analyst, author, and Cybersecurity Mom, Emanuel brings a unique blend of professional expertise and personal experience to digital safety. The article highlights how her journey; both as a JWU graduate and as a mother raising a digital-age child, fuels her mission to protect families from the fast-growing risks children face online.

Emanuel shared insights on topics such as grooming, online harassment, and social media–linked depression. She emphasized that when families can name the threats, they can start healthier, more confident conversations with their kids.

Through community workshops, read-alouds, roleplay activities, and live family sessions, Emanuel uses AQ’s Corner LLC to help parents and kids build digital confidence together. Her approach is simple and practical: teach families to talk, think, and act, not just rely on apps and settings.

This alumni feature recognizes Emanuel’s expanding impact as she continues empowering families, seniors, and schools with hands-on cybersecurity resources.
