From North Carolina to Georgia: Our CyberHero Book Lands on New Shelves

Big news: As of September 13, 2025, Emani and the CyberHero Response Team has officially made its way onto the shelves at Conversation Starters Bookstore in Locust Grove, Georgia!

This is such a proud moment for us:

  • Our second independent bookstore placement
  • Our very first out-of-state location

We are deeply grateful for the kindness extended by the manager KiLO, who welcomed our book into her store and gave us this opportunity to grow beyond our current state.

The Story Behind the Shelf

This milestone started with a simple nudge from my friend Allison. At first, I brushed it off. Why would an indepedant bookstore in Georgia pick us up when we live in North Carolina? But sometimes doubt is just a doorway. I took the chance, reached out, and the manager KiLO, opened her heart (and her shelves) to our story.

When we spoke on the phone, she mentioned something that nearly stopped me in my tracks: she planned to place Emani and the CyberHero Response Team near the Judy Blume books. For me, that was a full circle. Judy Blume’s stories shaped so many childhoods, including mine, and now Emani’s story will sit just a few steps away, waiting to inspire the next generation.

About Conversation Starters

I haven’t yet had the chance to visit Conversation Starters in person, but friends who know the store speak very highly of it. They describe it as more than a bookstore; it’s a place where stories spark dialogue, and where community and creativity come alive.

It’s also proudly woman-owned, a space that carries forward the tradition of amplifying diverse voices and creating opportunities for storytelling. And it doesn’t stop at books: Conversation Starters also offers a podcast studio for rent, giving local voices a professional platform to be heard. It’s a true community hub in Locust Grove.

Gratitude & More to Explore

This journey has shown me again and again that support doesn’t always come from the places we expect, but it shows up right on time. I’m grateful to the manager of Conversation Starters for opening her shelves to us and giving Emani and the CyberHero Response Team a new home in Georgia.

🌟 Friend Spotlight: Allison

Allison didn’t just nudge me, she carried the vision forward. She personally walked into Conversation Starters Bookstore with a single copy of our book, placing it in the owner’s hands to review. When the store gave their approval, she came back with the rest, hand-delivering every book to secure our spot on the shelves.

And when those books were finally in place, Allison made sure I didn’t miss the moment. She captured it all through photos and video, letting me share in the joy and see the vision come to life even from afar.

That’s more than support, that’s belief in action.

Her wisdom goes beyond age, I’ve found her tips just as valuable for women younger than 50, too. Wellness has no expiration date, and neither does the kind of support she gives.

Cybersecurity isn’t just my profession, it’s a passion I share with the most important person in my life: my daughter. As I grow in this ever-evolving field, I see it through both a professional lens and a mother’s eyes, understanding the critical need to protect our digital spaces for future generations.

Confronting AI Bias Through Policy, Governance, and Accountability

AI bias isn’t theoretical. It shows up in real systems, affecting real people, often without clear reporting paths or accountability. I documented a live AI bias incident and submitted a formal open letter calling for stronger governance, clearer escalation mechanisms, and measurable safeguards aligned with public-interest standards. This work focuses on turning lived technical failures into policy-ready insight.
